"The experience was marvellous with the game drives being the focal point of our stay. Our ranger, Darryn, was extremely knowledgeable and was persistent in ensuring we got the best possible chance to view as many of the animals as possible. The accommodation, quality of food and service were excellent. The bedrooms were luxurious. The staff couldn't do enough for you and were very attentive and efficient without being over elaborate. The food was very well prepared and varied. All in all an unbeatable experience."

"Apart from the two Land Rover breakdowns that we endured on our first game drive! (which the staff handled very well), the experience was fantastic. For someone without much time (we only stayed for one night) you get to see a lot of game in just two game drives, from the pride of lions, wild dogs, elephants, giraffes and antelope. We didn't get to see buffalo or the elusive Hippo (despite the great effort of our knowledgable and lovely guide). Would recommend the luxury tented camp for an authentic safari experience."

Addo Elephant Park Rest Camp

http://www.safarinow.com/go/AddoRestCamp/ Experience the beauty and diversity of a South African National Park (SANPark) camp.

Deep within the shadows of the dense valley bushveld of the Sundays River region of the Eastern Cape lies the Addo Elephant National Park and the Addo Elephant Park Rest Camp. Here, the evenings are punctuated by the strident howl of the black-backed jackal, and the francolin's call heralds each new dawn. Safe from relentless persecution in the past, the grey leviathans of the bush now roam in peace.

The original Elephant section of the park was proclaimed in 1931, when only eleven elephants remained in the area - today this finely tuned ecosystem is sanctuary to over 450 elephants, Cape buffalo, black rhino, a variety of antelope species, as well as the unique flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo. But the Addo story has only just begun. Plans to expand the 164 000 ha Addo National Elephant Park into a 360 000 ha mega-park are moving forward at an exciting pace. This expansion is transforming Addo into the ultimate tourism destination. Some of its unique features already include:

Unrivalled natural diversity, with five of South Africa's seven major vegetation zones (biomes).
The Big 7 (Elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard, whales and great white sharks) in their natural habitat. Rich heritage of archaeological and historical sites. A wide variety of accommodation and activity options. In addition, plans include the proposed proclamation of a 120 000 ha (296 500 acre) marine reserve that includes islands that are home to the world's largest breeding populations of Cape gannets and second largest breeding population of African penguins.

The following facilities are available at the main rest camp:

http://www.safarinow.com/go/AddoRestCamp/

Experience the beauty and diversity of a South African National Park (SANPark) camp.

A fuel station selling petrol and diesel is available between 07:00 and 17:00.

A shop selling curios, snacks and basic supplies is open between 08:00 and 18:00 (Please note: times vary according to season, please check with park staff).

http://www.safarinow.com/go/kududu/ Situated on a hill overlooking the Sundays River Valley, Kududu Guest House has panoramic 360° views across farmlands and extensive Eastern Cape bush. Its position allows for complete isolation from intrusive sounds. One of our guests recently said: “I woke up this morning and thought perhaps I had been asleep for a week – such peace and quiet.”

"Kududu is made exceptional by its feeling of remoteness, while being close to a host of amenities"

Kududu Guest House is proudly owned and managed by Peter and Cathy Howard. Our farm is a working Lucerne and stock farm. Visitors are warmly invited to view the bustle of activities as Lucerne is baled or planted, Nguni cattle are dipped or herded, or our Dorper and Damara sheep are tended to.

Our three en-suite guestrooms are situated around a tranquil indoor garden. Each room is equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, DSTV, and air-conditioners. Crisp percale linen is used on all our beds and personal toiletries are provided.

A hearty farm-house breakfast is served daily between 8am and 10am. Enjoy magical views as you sip your early morning coffee overlooking our magnificent valley.

Relax on the veranda after breakfast with a good novel or take yourself off on one of our marked trails, accompanied by our well trained labrador, Robbie!

Spend the rest of the day around the pool or strolling through our peaceful garden. Alternatively visit one of the many attractions nearby or let us arrange your tours and bookings for you.

Return to Kududu for sundowners, in time to watch one of the most spectacular sunsets you will ever have the pleasure of seeing. Perhaps you would like to take an evening stroll up to the dam and quietly wait for the Kudu’s to come for their evening drink.

Dinner is served at 7.30pm on request. Enjoy delicious South African fare while you chat with your fellow-guests about the highlights of your day. Retire to the veranda for a view of the amazing star sky, and then just breathe and relax.

http://www.safarinow.com/destinations/addo-elephant-national-park/national-parks.aspx If you like the idea of mingling with hephalumps then look no further!

Pack your bags and head for this haven to a herd of 450 elephants in the Sundays River region. Watch their little ones getting up to mischief in the mud at waterholes. These elephants are mellow, having been protected for more than 75 years and form one of the densest elephant populations around the globe. From your vehicle you can easily gaze into their big brown eyes and be amazed at the dexterity of its trunk endowed with 100 000 muscles.

Black rhino and Cape buffalo also browse in the dense valley bushveld. At night the pachyderms come out to play at the waterhole right near the chalets. They can be particularly entertaining with lots of stomping, snorting, scent marking and dust swirling.

The park has recently been extended and now encompasses the southern hemisphere’s largest expanding dune field, the Alexandria Forest and the world’s largest gannet breeding colony on Bird Island and numerous breeding penguins on St Croix Island.

It’s biggest brag? It hosts the Big Seven! That includes the Big Five with the great white shark and southern right whale thrown in – not that you can spot them from your car!

Besides these leviathans, keep your eyes open for the charming little meerkats or the unique flightless dung beetle.
