Addo Rose and Garden Show
www.MyAddo.co.za: This year the ADDO ROSE AND GARDEN SHOW of the Sundays River Women’s Institute reaches its milestone Silver Anniversary with the 25th show being held in the historic Valentine Hall in Addo from the 11th to the 12th of October 2008.
The themed rose display will celebrate “OUR BEAUTIFUL WORLD” with various countries and the globe depicted by thousands of roses. The Show will open with a GALA PREVIEW on FRIDAY 10 OCTOBER at which 250 selected guests will have the first view of the display while sipping cocktails in the twilight. With music in the background, guests will move on to enjoy a delicious finger supper prepared by the talented Valley women.
The culinary talents of the Valley women will be available to all with the re-launch of ‘COUNTRY CUISINE’ now in its second printing and updated to include recipes from the newer members of the Sundays River Women’s Institute. These recipe books will be on sale at the Addo Rose and Garden Show for the first time since the reprinting.
In addition to the floral display there are craft and gardening stalls, speakers on topics related to gardening, and a fashion show by internationally recognised local designer Anton Randall. The Rose Café which serves food made by the women of the Dutch Reformed Church is supplemented by many fast food stalls catering to all tastes. Visitors may relax in the Beer Garden or in the grounds of the Valentine Hall while they listen to the music of various school bands.
All profits from the show are distributed to local charities many of which are totally reliant on this source of funding.
