Shamwari Game Reserve
Shamwari Game Reserve is situated in the verdant bush along the Bushmans River, halfway between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown, a pleasant drive from Cape Town, forming a natural extension to the famous Garden Route. Shamwari is about conserving a vanishing way of life. Steeped in Pioneer history, and dating back to the time when a multitude of game roamed wild and free, the reserve boasts five eco-systems, thus enabling the support of many forms of plant, animal and bird life. This is the ultimate African adventure and conservation effort coupled with responsible tourism.

Bushmans River Lodge is a unique historical site with its 4 suites decorated in an artistic African theme. The lodge offers personal ranger service and has its own chef. There is a delightful plunge pool and a thatched gazebo overlooking the Bushmans River below.
Riverdene Lodge is a restored settler's lodge with 9 suites, all en-suite with air-conditioning, Satellite TV, telephone and small lounge area. The public areas consist of two elegantly furnished casual lounges and a glorious sunroom, a rim flow swimming pool with sun deck and poolside bar
The ethnically decorated Lobengula Lodge with its thatched roofs is tucked deep in the valley bushveld. It offers 12 guests a tranquil, luxurious and exclusive getaway as well as a wellness centre.
Bayethe Lodge is a 5-star, luxury lodge comprising of 9-tented suites. A magnificent bushveld-type lodge made of stonewalls and thatch, accommodates the lounge, dining room, an outdoor banquet boma, swimming pool and viewing deck overlooking the Buffalo River, a tributary to the great Bushmans River.

"The experience was marvellous with the game drives being the focal point of our stay. Our ranger, Darryn, was extremely knowledgeable and was persistent in ensuring we got the best possible chance to view as many of the animals as possible. The accommodation, quality of food and service were excellent. The bedrooms were luxurious. The staff couldn't do enough for you and were very attentive and efficient without being over elaborate. The food was very well prepared and varied. All in all an unbeatable experience."
"Apart from the two Land Rover breakdowns that we endured on our first game drive! (which the staff handled very well), the experience was fantastic. For someone without much time (we only stayed for one night) you get to see a lot of game in just two game drives, from the pride of lions, wild dogs, elephants, giraffes and antelope. We didn't get to see buffalo or the elusive Hippo (despite the great effort of our knowledgable and lovely guide). Would recommend the luxury tented camp for an authentic safari experience."

Tatenda Lodge is situated on Glen Airmore Farm in the Bean River Valley some 650 metres above sea level in the Zuurberg Mountain Range. The property saddles the original wagon route to the interior which was constructed between 1850 and 1860 predominantly by hand and in itself represents a remarkable feat of human endeavour and ingenuity.
The lodge is constructed on the foundations of a 100 year old farmhouse which in its time no doubt offered refuge and comfort to many a weary traveller. This old fashioned hospitality of yesteryear continues today in the luxurious and spacious accommodation offered by Tatenda Lodge.
